Our Beginnings

St. John & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1991, in a small office on Third Street in downtown Cullman. At that time, the firm provided civil planning and environmental design services for solid waste management clients throughout the State of Alabama. Our presence in Cullman led to opportunities associated with land planning and site development for many local industries and businesses. Over time, we have been fortunate to serve our local municipalities in the design and project management of capital improvement projects on critical infrastructure throughout North Alabama. 

As our firm grew, we relocated to a historic home at our current location on First Avenue in 1994. Like so many others in our state, on April 27, 2011, we suffered the loss of our office in a tornado outbreak through Central and North Alabama. With the City of Cullman devastated by the storms, our firm, working from a temporary office-space, set out to serve in the rebuilding of the office and our community. 



Our newly-constructed office was completed in 2012. The building’s design, utilizing insulated concrete forms, hydronic radiant floor heat with locally-manufactured Rehau tubing, and a historically accurate brick façade, was an integral part in the community’s reconstruction effort and history.
